From enquiry to finished product, let us talk through the process!
Based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, Colex International Limited have been manufacturing and selling high quality hose and tube throughout the world since 1992.
Colex contacted us in May 2021 enquiring about our services on refurbishments. We arranged a visit to site, to meet in person and view the project.
During our initial meeting it was discussed that we would be refurbishing the office space which is attached to one of their main production warehouses. This is used by sales staff, production staff and visitors.
The space was worn down, after not having any work done for 30 years. The walls were marked and in need of further treatments due to damp issues.
Much of the office space needed refurbishment, and it was decided that Stirling would quote for Carpet, Ceiling tiles, Paintwork, a new kitchen and investigate options for all toilets.
Alongside the quotation we sent over a mood board, giving the customer a visual representation of the products quoted. From here we discussed colours and products further. Swatch packs and samples were sent out to select from before final confirmations of colours/ end products.
The Details
Logo
A company Logo should be present in office receptions, however as this office did not have space for a reception, the logo was placed in the doormat.
Downstairs
The downstairs office space included 2 offices, a meeting room, customer toilet and production toilet. The 2 offices backed onto the warehouse which produces a lot of noise. To reduce the noise level the two offices downstairs had fabric insulated walls. In order to keep these but keep the costs down, we advised Colex to paint these fabric walls with a Crown paint, which can be used on multi services. Blinds throughout the offices also needed to be replaced and an aqua colour was discussed to add a pop of colour.
The production toilet needed more work than the customer first imagined. However, to keep costs down we advised to keep the toilet partitioning. It was discussed to add a splashback behind the urinals to help with damp issues and replace the trough sink with a more hygienic option. The trough sink selected has 3 knee pedals which activates the taps to turn on, its a brilliant alternative to automatic taps.
The meeting room was used on rare occasions, so the ceiling tiles and carpet were in very good condition. The decision was made to just paint this room.
Carpet to the hall and stairs was replaced, along with painting the walls, woodwork and changing the handrail up the stairs to stainless steel. By painting the doors in a dark grey, we modernised the space without the costs of replacing the doors.
Upstairs
The kitchen was used by various staff members and so it needed updating, along with being clean and tidy. A decision to block off the end of the kitchen was made mid renovation, along with the decision to board the brick wall, so we could provide a splashback. The original urn was replaced with a Boiling water tap from ‘Quooker’, creating a more streamline kitchen space. New Vinyl flooring replaced the original vinyl tiles
New sinks and mirrors were fitted in the ladies toilet, alongside vinyl flooring and paintwork.
The main office space upstairs had 3 partitioned areas. Due to the partitioning being glass, staff members had stuck paperwork up on the glass. We replaced this paperwork with manifestation.
Due to the volume of work carried out we had to ensure we communicated with staff well and work around their opening hours as much as possible to avoid disruption.
Stirling did a brilliant job of our office refurbishment. Prior to our recent work, we hadn’t had any changes made to the building in around 30 years but now it looks good as new! The ladies in the office were excellent at giving suggestions and getting everything put into place. The team of builders are all really friendly and easy to get along with, and very accommodating to changes we wanted to make along the way. Even when we did have issues with the finish on some parts, they were very quick to rectify and sorted everything out.
